Moving back to Windows

After a long abstinence from the Windows platform as main OS, I have finally decided it is time to see the light and get with the masses. Windows Vista/7/2008 is the best OS out there, and neither Linux nor Mac OS X can touch it.

I have used various distro's of Linux for 2 years as primary OS, and got tired of the constant frustrations in having to pick from thousands of different choices. To not have a single company to blame for problems. To not have one single entity to hate when things go south. To have constant updates irritating the life out of me. I mean, if you have to choose between installing 10 patches in one month, or one large patch once every 3 years - which would you pick?

Then I went onwards to Mac OS X - and what a bummer. Even this guy claims Windows is better as it is cheaper than a Mac. I paid $9500 for my Mac Pro, compare that to the $2800 I paid for my super duper PC that (almost) outruns the Mac Pro. I paid $3800 for my MacBook Pro 17" Unibody, compare that with $699 for a 17" PC notebook. Steve Jobs is stealing our money. Why pay triple for some flashy junk when you can get solid compatible hardware for a third of the price?

Why use an overpriced iPhone that can not even copy/paste - even in its third incarnation - rather than a cheap, loaded Windows Mobile Compaq iPAQ or some similar Windows based smart phone?

And what is with those awful commercials? I absolutely love the new ones from Microsoft where Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates completely owns the world with their brilliance and inspiring acting.

Who cares if it takes Windows Server 2008 Standard 4.5 minutes to boot on an Asus 17" 2GB RAM laptop? It gives you chance to reflect on your path through life and the choices you made, especially to ponder the benefits of having Microsoft in your life. To rejoice in the knowledge that your bank account is still full and you have cash to spend on anti virus software, expensive office software, etc. Who cares if PC's look like crap? It is just a tool you use, right? With the awesome Vista or even better Windows 7 that is coming out, you will not even have time to concentrate on the hardware. All your attention will be on the bone chilling graphical bliss Windows will bestow upon you.

I love Windows. I hate Mac OS X. I love Microsoft. I hate Apple. (Repeat 200 times). It seems to take some will power, but I'll eventually get that right too... Now off to work on my overpriced behemoth while I feel guilty about all the money I wasted on it where I could have had so much more for so much less...

Happy 1st of April.
