90g Reef Tank - Other Photos
Many people seem to be fixated on the macro aspects of their tanks. I however spend hours a week looking and scouting for the barely visible creatures that live and grow in my tank. Here are some I found and photographed using my camera.

Bryopsis |
25 Mar '10 |
As I mentioned in another build log, I hate Bryopsis. It just does not want to die, you can add whatever fish and slugs and snails to your tank - they will not touch it. When I scrubbed my one live rock where I had some Bryopsis growth, I took some of the leaves and photographed them. |

Cheatomorpha |
25 Mar '10 |
The good algae... I have lots of this growing in my sump. It is used for nutrient export, pH and O2 production and as a safe harbour for cope-, iso- and amphipods (and miniature brittle stars, feather duster worms, star fishes etc).. |

Copepod |
25 Mar '10 |
I am unsure exactly what species of copepod this is, but I do know they are breeding like crazy in my tank as you can see from the egg bundle she is carrying. Awesome little creatures. My Ocellaris and Purple Fire fish think it is Christmas. |

Porcelain crab |
25 Mar '10 |
I found this tiny Porcelain crab in my basin after I emptied the waste water from the water change. It must have fell out of the live rock I scrubbed in there. Since they are filter feeders and not harmful, I placed him back in my sump. You can see he is pushing water over his eyes as they need to stay wet. |

This tiny landscape is flush against my aquarium glass pane. Click on the image to see a larger version. You will be amazed to see all the life. I can see various copepods, an isopod, algae, coralline algae, O2 bubble, red ciliates etc. |

Brine shrimp eggs |
27 Mar '10 |
I decided to give my fish a treat and hatch some brine shrimp eggs. I used the standard inverted pop bottle trick with an air stone. Here are the dehydrated eggs... |

Two days later and they have hatched into thousands of tiny crustaceans. |
