A very closeup shot of the intruiging Tassled Filefish.

It is very clear from this picture that the bird wrasse has recovered his colours.

The twinspot coris is growing steadily. One can easily compare his size to that of the standard SeaVeggies clip.

My Panther Grouper is now bigger than the coris.

Tunze Vortex | 31 Mar '07 |
As the salt was collecting on the substrate, the Tunze Turbelle stream sucked up a small vortex of salt and water which really looked cool. |

Rainbow | 31 Mar '07 |
While the salt water was mixing this interesting rainbow pattern caught my attention. |

Mixing water | 2 Jun '07 |
RO water from the sump mixing with salt water makes this interesting picture. |

Fixing canopy | 2 Jun '07 |
The canopy was not designed correctly. The LFS never took into account that I'd have two return lines (32mm PVC pipe) from the overflow to the other side of the tank, so they placed a cross beam to support the canopy way too low. I had to break it loose and raise it by 50mm before it would fit. My wife is painting it black. |

Building a tank leaves a mess | 3 Jun '07 |
When one builds a tank like this there is always a mess - here is the proof. |

Salt used in 480g | 3 Jun '07 |
The salt I added to the 2000L RO water to get to 1.024... |

RO mixing "station" | 3 Jun '07 |
My RO station where I mixed the 2000L of water. I purchased two extra RO units to help increase the water production rate. |

Calculations for raising SG | 3 Jun '07 |
In order to fix the weird specific gravity problem, I calculated how much salt was needed to raise it from 1.014 to 1.024. |

Coral sand | 9 Jun '07 |
Closeup of the nice coral sand. The pieces of rubble you see are actually pieces of live rock and coral skeletons. |

Filthy old 125g | 12 Jun '07 |
The old 125g tank as I was moving the live stock over. It is clear how filthy it was. |

Dragon wrasse which died in move | 12 Jun '07 |
This dragon wrasse lived only one night in the new tank before mysteriously dying. If you asked me I'd say he ingested a pocket of hydrogen sulfide in the old tank as I was trying to catch him. |

Evil anemone hermit crab | 12 Jun '07 |
One of the two evil anemone hermit crabs. They were cool until they started attacking my Foxface and Green Bird Wrasse. They are on their way back to the LFS. |

The Leather coral shedding its mucus. |

Leaffish | 4 Oct '06 |
Long time ago I had this beautiful leaffish. It was eating very well, but after the move from my old house to the new one it started shedding skin, but after two weeks died. |

Old version of 125g | 4 Oct '06 |
A very early shot of my 125g tank. The small size of the Lionfish is very apparent here. |

Frogfish | 8 Oct '06 |
I love frogfish. This was my first one. Lived a couple of weeks and was eating fine, but suddenly died. |

Yellow coris | 2 Dec '06 |
This yellow coris died because I placed live rock on top of it while it was buried. :( At least I think that is why he died. |

Old tank version | 10 Dec '06 |
A very different image of my old 125g tank. I temporarily harboured my Purple tang in it, only to discover it harassed even my Lionfish and eels. So back to the LFS it went. The macro algae were beatiful, just sad the puffer liked to destroy it. |

Immaculate puffer | 10 Dec '06 |
I tried my hand at a puffer but decided I do not like them. They are intelligent, but way too destructive and Ich prone. This guy damaged my Chocolate chip starfish, Green brittle stars, macro algae, mushrooms etc. It is currently at my LFS in their display tank. |

Blue spiny lobster | 27 Jan '07 |
A brilliantly coloured blue lobster - very cool, just sad I found it broken in two pieces a week later. I guess the eels were having a feast. |

Black Frogfish | 18 Feb '07 |
A black frogfish, which lived for several weeks only to succumb to a mysterious death. Sad as it might seem, but after this frogfish I decided not to purchase them again. |

Cowrie and starfish | 19 Feb '07 |
A nice juxtaposition of snail vs. star. |

Green Bird Wrasse | 20 Feb '07 |
When I just purchased my Green Bird Wrasse it had an intense green colour. This gradually faded away - most probably due to some vitamin deficiency. I am trying to rectify this by trying alternate food sources. |

Ribbon eel | 3 Mar '07 |
This ribbon eel took three months before eating. And even then it was hit or miss whether it would actually take the food I offered. It only ate large pieces of krill - nothing else. We went on holiday and when we got back, he just disappeared. Only after I tore down the old tank I found his remains in the sand. Once again, a fish I'll never try again. It just is not fair to the fish. |

Bamboo shark | 3 Mar '07 |
A bamboo shark - and I am not sure what the intentions of the star fish was here... This bamboo shark died within two weeks. My guess is that the nitrates of 80mg/L killed it, together with the densely packed live rock. They need open spaces to swim without scraping their delicate skin. |
